A workshop sawdust burner with the following vital statistics;

650 diameter
1100 height
Barrel; 4mm mild steel plate
Top; mild steel sandwiched refractory brick
5 inch flue
Top loading

Features a conical base to ensure that spillage cannot easily accumulate around the barrel. This also  provides stability in situ as well as making the stove easy to move during installation and transport. The top (5 inch) flue makes for a simple secure and cheap (no expensive elbows) installation.

Top plate and vents

One of the vents brings an air supply to the lower centre area of the firebox; the other to the top third of the stove. The lid lifts slightly in order to displace sideways to open. The top is about 25mm thick, most of which is refractory brick, bolted between thicknesses of mild steel plate; this should avoid distortion, such as you would have were the top purely steel, and cracking as you might have with a cast iron top of this size.

The 50 mm diameter  by 6mm   thick walled pipe brings air from one of the vents down to the lower centre of the combustion chamber; it is easily removable and can be regarded as a replaceable part. It could have a cast iron bulb on the end to make it last longer. The removable grate is cast iron and the area around it is bricked with refractory cement, about 30 mm in thickness.

Ash cleaning door

All the draught for the fire comes from above, so  the lower door is only used for emptying the ash. It is therefore a simple bolt tightened affair, as shown.
